The purpose of watershed programmes is to reduce the generation of non-point source pollutants and to mitigate the impacts of urban run off and associated pollutants that result from new development or redevelopment. It aims at rational utilisation of land and water resources with in the watershed for optimum sustained production and with minimum hazard to natural resources.
