A micro watershed of about 500 hectares is taken as a unit for development for a period of four years. Such micro watersheds are a part of mini watersheds covering a cluster of villages. The scale of investment in each micro watershed is Rs. 20 lakhs in four years. The holistic and integrated approach includes activities like soil and moisture conservation, water harvesting structures, social forestry, sivipasture, horticulture etc. Participatory approach through community organisations is adopted as a tool for implementation.
