The total quantity of hazardous waste generated in the state is about 83,000 tonnes per annum. Hyderabad zone accounts for 58% of the total waste. No doubt, a staggering figure. The next to follow is the Tirupathi zone with 14%. The third in line is the Visakhapatnam zone with 9%. The balance of 10% comes from areas spread all over the state.
