State of the Environment (Hazardous Waste Management) in Andhra Pradesh

As per the Hazardous Waste Rules, 1989, it is mandatory for all the hazardous waste generating industries to collect, treat and dispose off the waste as per the regulations issued by the State Pollution Control Boards (PCBs). In this connection, the APPCB has identified 481 industries a hazardous waste generating units. However, of these only 481 units, have been authorised to dispose of their wastes, the remaining three being non-functional. Some of these 481 units have also been authorised to transport their wastes to other places for incineration.
