Introduction

Our state is endowed with a wide variety of soils. These range from less fertile coastal sands to highly fertile deltaic alluviums. The six major soil groups present in our state are red soils, black soils, alluvial soils, coastal sands, laterite and lateritic soils and problem soils which include saline, saline alkali and non saline alkali soils.
