RESPONSE
- Despite
the energy sector being critical for growth, its environmental effects
have to be kept in mind when a new project is planned to be set up.
There is a need to subject all projects to Assessment (EIA) and carrying
capacity studies.
- Adoption
of cleaner coal combustion technologies and coal washing to avoid transport
of fly ash should be implemented on a priority basis. Greening of coal
mining sites should also be done immediately.
- Use of
more non-conventional energy and setting up of small hydel plants should
be done in a big way.careful Environmental Impact
