Interesting rock formations dot the state at various places. While some have already attained tourist spot status, others have been relatively unknown and have been conserved by the people themselves for various reasons, be it historical, social or religious reasons, (for example Bhongir, Mangalagiri, Yadagirigutta etc.)

Many of the rocks also have ecological importance as they are part of waterfalls and pools. Some of them also harbour micro flora and fauna. Some of them like Burra caves are cave rocks and have tourist value.
