Limestone Mining

Mining for limestone is the principal mining activity in A.P. About 18 million tonnes are produced from 10 districts. More than 90% of limestone produced from captive mines goes into manufacture of cement.

Krishna and Nalgonda districts are the major limestone producing districts about 43% together.

Presently, 40 minerals are produced under private and public sectors. Large deposits of bauxite, coal, gold, diamond, semi precious stones, barytes and monazite sands have been identified for exploration and exploitation for development under joint venture participation.
