INDUSTRIAL INVESTMENT
 
Our state is now the second in the country in attracting industrial investments after the liberalisation policy. At present it has 2,44,273 small scale units with anINDUSTRIAL PROGRESS
 


Number of Industrial Estates : 208 spread over 19,000 acres.
Major Industries in the State : Machine Tools, Synthetics, Drugs and Pharmaceuticals, Heavy Electrical Machinery, Ships, Fertilisers, Electronic equipment, Cement, Power Plants, Paper and Pulp, Petro Chemical, tobacco, etc. investment of Rs. 3208 crores. They provide employment to 23.58 lakh people.


About 54,500 industries were established under the Prime Minister's Rojgar Yojana with an investment of Rs. 366 crores providing livelihood to 1.16 lakh people.

Also, a budget of Rs. 450 crores was allotted for the year 1998-99 to set up four industrial growth centres.

To encourage industrial development, the state government has committed itself to processing loan applications as well as applications for power connections within 30 days.

Another factor facilitating industrialization is transportation. Our state is well connected by road, rail and air to various parts of the country.
