There are about 1000 medium and large industries in our state with a capital investment of around Rs. 2,00,000/- crores or US $ 5 billion. These industries provide employment for about half a million people.

Another million people are employed in the 1,00,000 small industrial units which exist in our state.

The main industrial products of our state include pharmaceuticals, chemicals, cement, fertilisers, paper, coal, limestone, asbestos, ship building and marine products.
