Though the state has many tourist attractions, their potential is yet to be tapped and developed. The fact that as low as three percent of the total foreign tourists visiting India included Andhra pradesh in their itinerary in the year 1994 (49,514 out of 15,62,016 tourists) is a pointer in this direction. The most popular destination for those foreign tourists who did have Andhra Pradesh on their map, was Hyderabad followed by Puttaparti.
