Having realised the potential and demand, the aquaculture industry has taken a giant leap through induction of latest technologies. However, the sudden spurt in the development lacked one of the essential inputs, namely the environmental management. Uncontrolled expansion of brackish water aquaculture units and their intensive farm practices have brought severe stress on the surrounding environment. The main environmental issues related to brackish water aquaculture industry are presented below.
