Coastal Climate

Climate has a profound influence on the agro-economic conditions of a region. Therefore, no analysis of a region has any meaning unless the climatic regime influencing it is fully understood. Generally, the climatic conditions in the shore areas of the coastal districts are characterised by a hot summer period, two rainfall seasons and high humidity conditions throughout the year. The year can be broadly divided into three seasons.

  1. The hot and dry summer season from about the middle of February to about the first week of June.
  2. the south-west monsoon season from mid-June to the end of September, in all districts except Prakasam and Nellore and
  3. A mild / warm winter from October to February except in the southern districts which receive rains under the northeast monsoon.
