In the State of Andhra Pradesh, APPCB has been declared as the Prescribed Authority for issuing authorisations for hospitals for treatment/storage/disposal of the wastes. Notification in the Press is issued and training programmes are conducted in Hyderabad and Vizag for health care establishments. However as very few hospitals/nursing homes in the state are equipped with such facilities for treatment of the wastes, the rules may take some time for implementation, the status of segregation of the wastes is also in its nascent stage and very few hospitals/nursing homes are in a position to do so.
