Agriculture

Agriculture accounts for almost 50% of the income of our state. It also provides livelihood for 70% of our population. The important produce of our state includes paddy, jowar, bajra, ragi, maize, groundnut, chilly, tobacco, cotton, castor and sugarcane. It leads the rest of the country in the production of tobacco with a virtual monopoly of Virginia tobacco.
