An Environmental Information System(ENVIS) Scientific Advisory Committee to Advise & Monitor the ENVIS Programme has been constituted with the approval of Secretary (E&F) with the following composition and Terms of References:

1.     The Terms of References for the ENVIS Advisory Committee.

    1.    To frame policy guidelines for Environmental Information system
             and its implementation, to develop synergy between Centres &
             Nodes to facilitate exchange of information and database

    2.    To review the performance of the Centres & Nodes with reference
             to the designed themes and goals.

    3.    To devise the mechanism and procedures for dissemination of
             information and data to various user groups by Centres & Nodes.

    4.    To suggest measures for increased access to information and
             publication of data on critical aspects.

    5.    To periodically review the recommendations of the Technical
             Committtee about the performance of various Centres & Nodes as
             well as the improvements to be carried out in this regard.

    6.    To decide and oversee the activities of various Nodes under
             ENVIS Programme.

    7.    To decide the structure of the project and its future expansion.

    8.    Visit select Nodes to monitor.

2.     The Tenure of the Committee will be for a period of two years .

3.     The committee may co-opt other members/panel of experts as necessary with the
         concurrence of the Chairman of the ENVIS Advisory Committee.


4.     The committee may meet in New Delhi or elsewhere in India as and when
         necessary.


5.     The Expenditure on TA/DA and Sitting Fee of the Non-official members will be
         borne by the Ministry as admissible under the Government of India rules.
